2-Tone Comics of Hebden Bridge Flooded Again

Over Christmas towards the end of 2015, Britain suffered big floods, including Hebden Bridge, home to 2-Tone Comics. The store experienced total devastation and there were appeals to help the comic store get back on its feet. The events also inspired Mary and Bryan Talbot to create a graphic novel, Rain, set in the area in the run up to the floods, looking at all the local environmental issues that led to the disaster, and looking at the clear-up situation, and plans necessary to stop it from happening again.

Well, it happened again over the last week. The store was better prepared, but there was still a lot of damage. On Facebook, 2-Tone Comics posted,

What can we say, unfortunately our shop along with the whole valley was hit by storm Ciara on Sunday and we were flooded out , however We did manage to get most of our stock high up so it’s mainly getting out the silt and mud and getting the dehumidifier going.

We would like to thank you all for your kind messages, help and thoughts.

Big thanks to Totally Screwed Hardware & the kind donations of cleaning products available at the town hall and a massive shoutout to our amazing flood wardens. Our thoughts are with the whole of the valley. We will keep you all updated and should be back open very soon. Xx

Here’s how the 2-Tone Comics – and the local area – is looking. We hope Storm Dennis didn’t double down on this…
