Comic Store In Your Future – 25 Hot Comics For February

Rod Lamberti of Rodman Comics writes weekly for Bleeding Cool. Find previous columns here.
Comics back issues prices currently are largely influenced by comic-related movies. There are notable exceptions such as Batman Beyond back issues being influenced by its current story arc. A Batman Beyond issue 25 foil cover we sold online for $24.50 before including shipping. The non-foil cover went for $43 dollars not including shipping cost. Pretty good for a comic that was sitting for cover price in our back issue bin.

Edge of Spider-Verse 2 still commands a high price for being less than a decade old.
With the upcoming release of Black Widow will there somehow be an opening for more Black Widow movies in the future? A one and done movie from Marvel does not seem to fit in with their business model.
The Birds of Prey hit the theaters with plenty of DC characters new to the big screen. Will these characters be used on the big screen again? After this weekend’s softer than expected turn out that could be a long shot.
How well will Bloodshot do in the movie theaters? Well enough for a sequel? So good that more Valiant characters will be joining him on the big screen? Which in turn would bring more interest to Valiant characters.
Justice League Dark hitting the big screen? Recent headlines seem to suggest it could happen. Justice League Dark, the movie seems to keep being talked about though not actually made. The latest news about Justice League Dark helped get some Swamp Thing back issues get a bump in interest along with Justice League Dark 1.
Brother Voodoo in the next Doctor Strange has helped put the heat on his first appearance in Strange Tales 169.
How well will the upcoming New Mutants movie do? Good enough for a sequel?  For a movie that has been delayed by quite awhile that would be quite the accomplishment. A sequel would mean possible new first time characters from the comics making the jump from comics to the movies which in turn could mean new hot back issues in the future. New Mutants Warlock on the big screen? That could be something.
Keep in mind in this day and age prices for back issues can change quickly. Now on to February’s 25 Hot Comics.
