Comics industry reacts to Dan DiDio’s departure from DC Comics
As you may have heard, Dan DiDio is no longer with DC Comics. His decade-long tenure as co-publisher has had highs and lows but nobody can deny the influence he has had over the industry, as well as the stamp he made on DC Comics history. This news has garnered social media reaction from all corners of the comic industry, from Marvel to Image, ranging from simple shock to more positive outlooks… with some sour takes sprinkled in.
While the world of comics likes to look at things in terms of heroes and villains, that’s far from reality. I’ve known Dan Didio years before he was at DC.

We lived in different universes and competed for more years than I can remember, he’s a good guy and has been a staunch advocate for our medium for nearly two decades. I want to personally wish him the best and look forward to all his future endeavors and successes.

Oh man. Dan was a massive supporter of me being at Marvel. Sorry to see him go.

I don't know what to say. It took me by surprise. All the time I've been in DC has been under his direction and I couldn't think in DC Comics without the presence of @DanDidio . Best of the luck in your future and thanks for your support ever, Dan.https://t.co/oRnAYw9uHh

I just woke up in a bathtub full of ice and a note pinned to my chest said that I have to be the new publisher at DC Comics??? What is going on?

Obviously with the news just breaking, no one knows much of anything right now. But best wishes to Dan Didio, as well as everyone at DC.

Dan DiDio was a great champion of mine over at DC Comics. I’m forever grateful for his support as I made my way to the DCU and for our conversation they led to Female Furies. I am wishing him luck on his next adventure. It’s definitely the end of an era.

a publisher's systemic problems can't be tied to one dude, so keep polishing your fantasies that things will somehow become quality over there
— Christopher Sebela – ECCC (@xtop) February 21, 2020
maybe DC can recruit people into an "EIC Workshop" and then not hire any of them when it's done

Does anyone know what happened here? https://t.co/wr7AxSsGIw

He was a blast on panels and hopefully still will be.
Also, WAY underrated as a writer. https://t.co/ck2qpSPsYl

Wow. End of an era. https://t.co/hPctTIQSCb

End of an era at DC with Dan DiDio gone. FWIW, I always really liked Dan, and when we disagreed, it was amicable. Thinking of all of my friends there who are going through what is assuredly a challenging day.

Dan Didio was a supporter and champion of my work from day one. He kept Sweet Tooth alive and gave me my first chances at writing comics in 2010. Wish him all the best. DC won’t be the same without his passion.

Last, but not least, we have one final reaction. One that perfectly captures how everyone in the industry is feeling; one of surprise, exacerbation… but also one of peace. Of serenity. Of hope for the future.
