Ms. Marvel #8-10 (1977)
An important story for two reasons. A new, much less sexist costume is introduced (with no explanation or fanfare-she’s just in it when the story starts), and in it in the corner box.
And a terrific female villain is introduced: Death-Bird.
She takes a lot of punches.
She’s working for MODOK, hunting down Ms. Marvel.
MODOK appears towards the end and gets punched in the head.
Also in this issue, MODOK assumes, through force, control over all of AIM. And Ms. Marvel, in her secret identity, uses champagne as a weapon.
J Jonah Jameson guest stars.
Creators: Chris Claremont, Keith Pollard (#9), and Sal Buscema(#10)
Grade: B-
