Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Profiles Det. Vega and Michener
Showtime's Penny Dreadful: City of Angels lit a fuse on the powderkeg that is late-30's Los Angeles with series premiere "Santa Muerte," introducing us to Det. Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto) and Det. Lewis Michener (Nathan Lane) as they find themselves embroiled in a murder case tied to the cult of Santa Muerte that could tear the city apart. Vega finds himself an outsider on the force and among his family, including his brother Raul (Adam Rodriguez) and mother Maria (Adriana Barraza): a man torn between two worlds who might just be the answer to saving them both. Now, Lane and Zovatto are taking fans behind the scenes to discuss their respective roles, what it is that causes them to bond so quickly, and how both Vega and Michener reflect the times.
In the following preview for the next episode "Dead People Lie Down," Raul is in critical condition and hanging on by a thread, as his and Vega's brother Mateo (Johnathan Nieves) meets Fly Rico (Sebastian Chacon). Meanwhile, Tiago and Lewis's investigative trail takes them to the doorstep of radio evangelist Sister Molly Finnister (Kerry Bishé) and her mother, Miss Adelaide (Amy Madigan). Townsend looks to turn the city's growing divide to his political advantage, while Lewis steps up his efforts into investigating stateside Third Reich activities. In the clip below, Showtime gives viewers a tease of what's still to come as the war for all existence gets very ugly and very personal.
Showtime's Penny Dreadful: City of Angels stars Daniel Zovatto, Nathan Lane, Natalie Dormer, Lorenza Izzo, Jessica Garza, Johnathan Nieves, Adriana Barraza, Michael Gladis, Rory Kinnear, Kerry Bishé, Brent Spiner, Amy Madigan, John Logan, Adam Rodriguez, Thomas Kretschmann, Dominic Sherwood, Ethan Peck, Sebastian Chacon, and Lin Shaye. Original series creator John Logan and Michael Aguilar (Kidding) serve as executive producers, along with the Neal Street Productions' Sam Mendes and Pippa Harris, the original series' executive producers. James Bagley will serve as co-executive producer, with Logan's Desert Wolf Productions producing. Paco Cabezas (American Gods, Deadly Class) is on board to direct the series premiere and possibly additional episodes.

Konami Issues Statement On Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Organized Play & Events
Today, Konami has issued a statement on the status of Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game's organized play and promotional events. We have the full statement below, but the shorthand version to this is that they will be introducing a new way to handle organized play during the coronavirus called Remote Duel. The company has been constantly updating their tournament schedule to accommodate for the pandemic, but after canceling so many events, they have chosen to go with an online structure that will allow events to continue.
We hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe. As we monitor developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to take seriously our role in contributing to the overall health and safety of our fan base, Tournament Store owners and staff, and all business partners. In keeping with the guidelines and recommendations put forth by government health authorities, we believe it is in the best interest of our community to extend the postponement of our Yu-Gi-Oh! Organized Play and promotional events through Sunday, May 31, 2020. Jointly, we share a responsibility to prevent community spread of this virus by practicing social distancing and we appreciate everyone's cooperation during this time of uncertainty. Further information about these guidelines, as well as prevention tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may be referenced here.
We are equally aware of the steps that communities across the nation have taken to gradually reopen. We share our community's enthusiasm to resume Organized Play and promotional events and, in this vein, we are working closely with our Tournament Store contacts and business partners, while heeding public health guidance, to determine how and when we can do this safely. At the end of May, we will review government health authority guidelines and provide another update relating to the status of local Organized Play and promotional events. To continue supporting Official Tournament Stores during this challenging time, we are introducing Remote Duel, a new Organized Play initiative to run sanctioned tournaments using Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, Legacy of the Duelist, Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution, and a Duelist's own card collection. More information about this program will be shared directly with Tournament Stores and on the Official Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG website, as well as via our official social media channels soon.

EGX Rezzed 2020 Has Officially Been Canceled This Week
After promising fans they would continue on with their plans for a July event, EGX Rezzed 2020 has officially been canceled. Reed POP announced today on the convention's website that they would not be holding their event from July 2-4 at the Tobacco Dock in London. The idea of holding it was already a lofty goal when they made the original announcement last month in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. Now it appears the current world health crisis has put them in a position where they cannot move forward with their plans. You can read the full statement below, including how you get refunds on tickets.
The effects, actual and projected, of Coronavirus are becoming evident across all aspects of our lives here in the UK and across the world, with many of our exhibitors and creators facing travel restrictions and quarantine measures. After extensive discussions with all the relevant public health, local and national authorities, and with our Rezzed partners, we have taken the decision not to go ahead with this year's event. We thank everyone who has prepared to deliver what promised to be a fantastic event over the past year, showcasing the best of indie gaming to the incredible Rezzed community.
Our flagship event EGX is currently scheduled to run 17-20 September 2020 and all Rezzed tickets have automatically been upgraded to this September event. Rezzed ticket holders are entitled to a full refund should they prefer, and simply need email egx.helpline@reedexpo.co.uk with their order number and our Customer Services team will process their refund. We're incredibly disappointed we won't see you this year at Rezzed, but are already planning for EGX Rezzed to return, better than ever, in 2021. For now, take care, stay safe and keep playing the weird, wacky and wonderful indie games that help make Rezzed what it is.

Magic: The Gathering Ikoria Limited Top Ten Picks For Red
Here at Bleeding Cool, we have compiled our rankings for the top ten best red cards in Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths for Limited. Yesterday we went over black cards after having gone over white and blue not even two weeks prior, and now it's time for us to turn up the heat!
#10. Raking Claws
Raking Claws is a strong contender for the top underdog in the set. You will lose to this card out of nowhere pretty quickly if you don't have some way to provide yourself with a control aspect like countermagic or buff enough creatures. Even in the case of the latter, though, be prepared to lose that creature. Double Strike is no joke! On top of that, Raking Claws has cycling, which, if you've read our earlier articles reviewing Ikoria Limited, you'll know is a powerhouse of value.
#9. Ferocious Tigorilla
A long time ago, Ferocious Tigorilla would have been placed at a much higher rarity than it presently is. We think it would probably have been a rare instead of a common for its versatility and strength, and it would have likely seen play with enough cards supporting an archetype like Big Red or Red Deck Wins. However, this card is a Common due to the power creep of the game as a whole – that does not mean, however, that it is by any means a bad card. It's not! It is #9 on our list because it is outclassed by other strong Limited cards.
#8. Shredded Sails
Shredded Sails, like Light of Hope in white's cache of cards for Limited, is a small card that does a lot – if you'll let it. Despite looking as though it only has two modes, it actually has three: Cycling counts as a mode and then some, as the card draw is difficult to counter and only costs generic mana. And that's speaking nothing of the other two modes, which are either good artifact removal or slightly-situational flying removal, neither of which are bad in red by a long shot.
#7. Weaponize the Monsters
We here at Bleeding Cool love ourselves a good sacrifice outlet in Magic: The Gathering. Witch's Oven is a card that is a good example of a heavily utilized sacrifice outlet from recent days that we love, and Weaponize the Monsters is truly no different. Sure, it may cost a bit of mana to get working as well as a creature to sacrifice, but that's the point of running a card like this in your deck. This card can break stalled games little by little if you let it!
#6. Blisterspit Gremlin
Speaking of stall-breaking cards, here we have one of our two "Tim" creatures in the set: Blisterspit Gremlin is excellent at fighting off stalemates little by little to victorious ends. Outside of Limited, decks that run cards like Torbran, Thane of Red Fell have fallen in love with this little chump, and for good reason!
#5. Flame Spill
Super-Duper Death Ray is back and in black-border no less! Trample had evaded the world of black-bordered Magic for quite some time now but Flame Spill introduces the technology that was experimented on (quite literally) in Unstable. Power-wise, this card is great. Being able to destroy creatures and deal excess damage to opponents is major, and could turn the tides of many a tough matchup for red players in Limited.
#4. Porcuparrot
Don't let this card's silly name fool you – this card is very powerful. Porcuparrot can break any sort of parity caused by a red mirror-match whenever possible, simply by mutating it once or twice. That's quite formidable! Our best advice is to wait until after your opponent's combat phase is over to activate it – that way you've kept up a blocker and still get that damage in!
#3. Momentum Rumbler
Double Strike is a rather tough ability to see natively on a creature in Limited. Momentum Rumbler takes a little bit of work to get there, but once there it quite literally cannot stop going! This is basically a 6/3 for four mana in uncommon rarity. That's major!
#2. Fire Prophecy
In Ikoria Limited, value engines are sort of scarce outside of Cloudpiercer and rares. That's why Fire Prophecy makes a showing in our #2 spot for top red cards. If you are new to drafting or playing in Sealed pods, you might not immediately understand why this card is so good. Surely Ferocious Tigorilla deserves a higher spot than this, right?
The reason Fire Prophecy is so good is that not only is it card value, but it also removes creatures, which is a hugely powerful thing to see for just two mana. Lessons learned!
#1. Footfall Crater
As situational as Footfall Crater is while in play, it lies neatly in a good support spot for decks that want your creatures to have Trample. Furthermore, it provides speed where necessary with regards to freshly-summoned creatures. Finally, this card has cycling, which makes it never a dead card! There are a lot of things to be said for this card, but "bad" is not one of them and that's why it's our #1 pick for red cards in Ikoria Limited.
Wrapping Up This Top Ten List
