It appears Electronic Arts are making their final moves with a couple of games and are preparing for the next Battlefield title. If you haven't already caught onto what's been happening with their updates and servers lately, the company has started to execute their final plans for what's happening in Star Wars: Battlefront II as well as Battlefield V. Both games had their ups-and-downs, both had peak periods, both had their own controversies with the audience. But no matter how you feel about them, it appears the last set of updates are either done or are in the process of being finished to be loaded to the servers down the road. Whatever the case, they're both going to be done soon as the company will shift focus to a new game. But that new game isn't going to be happening this year.

According to IGN, the company is already working on the next title in the franchise as we speak, but that we won't be seeing anything from it in 2020. The game will instead make its debut in 2021, which is fine considering the state of the world we're currently in during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was confirmed in a statement made by the company as they announced the end of Star Wars: Battlefront II.

"While the studio's vision for Star Wars Battlefront II is now complete with this week's The Battle on Scarif Update, the servers, in-game challenges, recurring events and game support will continue as the game lives on with players and the community. We're looking forward to hearing players' stories for both games, for years to come. Longer term, the studio is focused on the future of Battlefield that we'll be bringing to players in 2021."

What war will they tackle next for the upcoming title? Who really knows. But after all the talk of WW1 and the Spanish Flu, as well as WW2 being overdone so many times, it would be nice to experience a war game from a different era that has nothing to do with Germany.

With summer coming at us much sooner than most of us realized, HBO is once again offering viewers a look ahead to what's still to come from the cable giant. In the clip below, you'll see scenes from a number of returning shows as well as extended clips from series such as I Know This Much Is True, I May Destroy You, The Third Day, I'll Be Gone in the Dark, The Undoing, and the return of His Dark Materials. But if you've been following our coverage or you've been a regular visitor to our television coverage, then you know which two series have been on our radar for some time now: Lovecraft Country and Perry Mason.

In Lovecraft Country, Koren war vet Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors) joins up with his friend Letitia "Leti" Dandridge (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) for a road trip to find his missing father. Atticus is known for two things: always having a pulp novel in his back pocket and wearing his heart on his sleeve despite the daily injustice of living in the 1950s Jim Crow America. The trio must survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the malevolent spirits that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

Perry Mason follows the origins of one of fiction's most legendary criminal defense lawyers, Perry Mason (Rhys). When the case of the decade breaks down his door, Mason's relentless pursuit of the truth will take him through a fractured city and quite possibly down a pathway towards redemption for himself. Set in 1932 Los Angeles, the city finds itself booming like never before, while the rest of the country recovers from the Great Depression. Oil, the Olympic Games, the advent of talking pictures, evangelical fervor, and a child kidnapping that goes horrifically wrong all make for a deadly mix.

Joining Vance, Majors, and Smollett-Bell on Lovecraft Country are Aunjanue Ellis, Elizabeth Debicki, Wunmi Mosaku, Michael K. Williams, Jamie Harris, Abbey Lee, Jamie Chung, Jordan Patrick Smith, Jamie Neumann, Erica Tazel, and Mac Brandt, and Tony Goldwyn. Adapted from Matt Ruff's novel of the same name, Lovecraft Country stems from Academy Award winner Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions, JJ Abrams's Bad Robot, and WBTV. Yann Demange (Top Boy) directs and executive produces the series opener; with Misha Green writing the pilot and serving as showrunner, as well as executive-producing alongside Peele, Abrams, and Ben Stephenson. Daniel Sackheim (The Americans, True Detective) is directing the second and third episodes of the series, and will also serve as executive producer.

Based on Erle Stanley Gardner's word, HBO's Perry Mason also stars Tatiana Maslany, John Lithgow, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Nate Corddry, Veronica Falcon, Jefferson Mays, Gayle Rankin, and Lili Taylor. Tim Van Patten (Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones) is set to direct, and executive produces alongside showrunners Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald, Robert Downey, Jr., and Susan Downey as well as Team Downey's Amanda Burrell, and Joe Horaceck; with Rhys also on board as a producer on the project.

Tom Hardy is playing Al Capone in a new film from Vertical Entertainment. No stranger to playing a gangster at this point, the film follows Al Capone's descent into madness as dementia takes hold in his mind and starts to mess with his memories. This is all as others try to pump information from the man as to where he may have hidden large sums of money from his more active years as the most feared gangster in the US. The film is directed by Josh Trank, his first since his failed 2015 reboot of the Fantastic Four.  The film will release on May 12th to VOD streaming services for rental only, as they still plan on taking this to theaters when they reopen later in the summer. Capone Synopsis

"A ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Al "Fonzo" Capone (Tom Hardy) was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Capone's mind, and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life."

I had no idea that Al Capone had dementia so early in life. This film was initially titled Fonzo, but the studio wisely retitled it because nobody knows what that means. Hardy is mostly quiet in the trailer until the end, but it sounds like the actor has yet another accent to his credit. He looks so sickly and non-threatening, and that extends to the scenes when he is supposed to be younger? A lot of the trailer was focused on Hardy munching on cigars as well. I don't know about this one, but we will see, I guess. Capone stars Tom Hardy, Kyle MacLachlan, Linda Cardellini, Jack Lowden, Matt Dillon, and Neal Brennan. It will be available to rent on May 12th.
